A Winter Pause

Sitting with my hot cup of tea on this cozy winter day, I’m grateful for this season. I’m also feeling behind with my year-end wrap-up and future planning. Maybe you’re in a similar situation.

The ICD writing project required an intense five weeks, including working over the holidays and into January. My available time to put a bow on the past year and imagine the new one was postponed. Now that the writing is done, I gifted myself a few days to breathe and exhale.

I’m excited to review journal entries, archive or delete older files, decide which workshops to offer this year (your ideas are welcome), consider new projects, do the “Three Things Reflection,” and select my word or theme for the year. I’m leaning toward something connected to ease.

What are you working on? How can I help? Sending you warmest wishes for a happy, healthy, and organized New Year!

New Year, New Vision

Change is all around. Winter weather is here. The holidays have come and gone, and the New Year has arrived. I sense the seasonal pressure for change and a reset. Before moving forward, it’s helpful to reflect. I’m doing this by reading my journals, going through blog posts, reviewing stats, photos, the calendar, and more.

The year-end audit helps me understand what was, so I can future-think and plan for the new year. What will I let go of or embrace? What deserves more time, energy, and attention? Which goals will I pursue? The possibilities are exciting and also, in truth, a bit overwhelming. Only by doing the work will I get clarity.

I need quiet time to think, read, research, and reflect. Then, I’ll create a vision for 2023. Last year was the first time I made a vision board. It was so empowering that I’m doing it again. Elements included were a Word of the Year, a motto, and three big themed buckets with 9 to 12 goals each. With changes in mind, I’m open to altering the vision board process and outcome as needed. What do you want more or less of this year?

Wishing you a happy, healthy, joy-filled, and organized 2023!

Joyful Winter Moments

Winter is upon us, along with a new year. As I write this, a blanket of snow covers the landscape. The trees are bare, and the saturated colors from seasons past are asleep. However, there are some noticeable bright spots even with this quiet winter scape. I delight in discovering the red berries, yellow-green ferns, and deep blue-green pine trees beneath a dusting of snow.

These colorful gifts are tiny moments of joy. What becomes possible when you allow yourself time to pause and notice? Seeking joy is essential with the loss, stress, and uncertainty we’ve endured these last few years of pandemic life. Integrating it into your day builds resilience, brings happiness to darker times, increases your flexibility, and expands your perspective.

This is an excellent time of year to fully embrace the fresh start the New Year brings. How will you prioritize joy? What will you let go of? In what ways will you organize your time, space, and possessions, so they support and honor what you do and who you are? How can I help?

As you begin 2022, my heart and thoughts are with you. I wish you an organized joy-filled New Year!
